Safety Style Nightlatches

Eliminate Danger of Being Locked In or Out

The traditional British nightlatch is  very common lock to be found by a locksmith in Birmingham when carrying out replacements or repairs.  Sometimes however, residents can find themselves annoyingly stuck inside their flat or locked out of the house just by accidently misusing these products.  If you have a 'double-locking' or 'deadlocking' nightlatch, an additional turn of the key from outside will prevent use of the handle from inside, trapping someone inside.  Annoying, but also extremely dangerous in case of emergency.  Many large towers in Birmingham City Centre nonetheless have these fitted.  If that wasn't enough though, a user who is indoors may use the snib and thereby accidently prevent their partner or carer coming into the house with their own key!  This is all with the lock working perfectly without fault!  Although they all look nearly identical, there are some designed with greater safety and ease of use in mind.  You can ask your local locksmith CraftLock Ltd to evaluate and swap to a safer type if necessary.  It could save you a big headache in the future!
