Bedroom Door Lock

What is good for a bedroom door lock?

Many people in Birmingham and Solihull wish to increase security within their home by installing an extra layer of security upon their bedroom door, or require it to protect their personal space within shared accommodation.  There are a lot of options for this but not all are going to give a safe and convenient result.  CraftLock Ltd recommends adding a 'deadbolt' style of the common nightlatch lock to your bedroom for additional security, privacy and peace of mind.  The deadbolt nightlatch has the following advantages for a bedroom lock:

  • Protects entry to the room, only the key holder may enter.
  • Exit the room using the handle only - this is an essential safety feature which prevents you from being stuck in the room if you cannot find the key.  It is especially important in shared accommodation where the fire risk is assessed to be higher.
  • The deadbolt will not cause closure friction when combined with the original handle and latch upon the door.
  • The deadbolt is considerably stronger against forced entry than standard nightlatches.
  • It is more reliable than other models of standard nightlatch which, with their more complex features, regularly suffer faults.
  • It does not lock automatically - it will only do so when you have turned the key or turned the handle.  This is very important as you must avoid the possibility of locking yourself out when you are just walking around your house!
